Eric and I only have two credit cards that we use on a regular basis, and one of those is the American Express Blue Sky rewards card.Thanks to our Amex, we were able to use $500 worth of points for my 30th birthday trip to Cabo, bringing our trip total from $2,000 to $1,500—not bad for an all-inclusive hotel and airfare combined.
It took us one year to accumulate these points so we’re pretty happy since we only use our credit card rewards to help offset our love of travel.
As an American Express cardholder, I also have access to a card member benefit called Amex Offers. These offers are tailored to each individual card holder based on where they’ve shopped in the past. Offers that I currently have access to include:
- $5 back iTunes when you spend $5 (so yes, free songs!)
- $10 back on Crate & Barrel
- $10 back on Lowe’s
- $10 back on Teavana
All I have to do is save which offers I’d like to take advantage of—think of it as the virtual “clipping a coupon” stage but without the hassle of searching for your scissors that never seem to be in the place where you last left them. With Amex Offers, just hit the “Save Offer” button and you’re golden.
There are over 15 offers that I currently have access to and Amex has more than $15 million in savings available to card members.
You can save offers directly from your online Amex account or from your social media accounts, like Facebook, Twitter, etc. The offers show up as statement credits.
So yes, as I write this post, I totally just went on iTunes and bought Beyonce’s latest “Drunk in Love” single because that was my Cabo theme song. With a $5 statement credit as part of Amex Offers, I was able to buy four songs for 16 cents.

I use a corporate AMX card almost daily. I like the AMX website interface and how easy it is to submit my expenses for reimbursement.
I like when they offer 2x to 5x= the points on online purchases. I helps you accumulate points much more quickly. Also when they offer extra points for groceries or gas. The necessities!

We have an amex but I dont think its the same rewards program… I wouldd love to earn miles for travel. We put all of our bills on our cards and pay the full amount right away… can you imagine how many trips we would earn? 🙂

I’m a huge fan of reward points, but most of them don’t pay-out very well, very quickly, or for things that you want or need. I tend to go for cash-back options whenever I can, but I like how this card tailors the rewards to you individually! I think that’s very smart of Amex to offer this.

I don’t have an American Express card, but those coupons do seem pretty cool. We are at Lowe’s weekly as we are remodeling our home, so that might be something to look into!
I don’t have an AmEx card, but that seems like a great deal if the offers and tailored to places you already shop. I have a card through a different company, and they have offers, but they’re usually not to places I frequent so they’re of no use to me.

What I like most when I’ve used them in the past is it forces you to make sure you pay if off each month.
We like AMEX for the excellent service in general, they immediately caught when my husband’s card was skimmed and alerted us which was great.
The cashback through ours is also a major perk!

I like that Amex offers are for things you actually already buy – not obsure brands. It’s also easy to just get the money back on your credit card statement.
