Hello! My name is Kevin, and I am Erika’s youngest brother at 21 years of age. Since she’s been pregnant, she’s been super busy and hasn’t been able to keep up with her blog so I took upon myself to give you all some perspective on what I’m expecting as a soon-to-be uncle.
To put it blatantly, I’m having a hard time keeping down my excitement. As soon as I found out my sister was pregnant, I immediately began making plans about how I’m going to take my niece/nephew (I’m hoping it’s a girl!) to Disneyland and how I’m going to spoil them and be their favorite uncle.
Being the baby of the family, and not just my immediate family I’m talking about cousins and all, keep in mind we are also a Mexican family, I’ve never really had anyone to look after or take care of. I was always the one being taken care of but I find it refreshing knowing that I will be able to look after someone and have them, hopefully, look up to me.
Some of my favorite memories of my childhood were made by my aunts and uncles. Whether they know it or not, they’ve had a big impact on my childhood, mostly because I could usually count on them to save me from my parents! But I’m hoping to have a similar impact with my sister’s child. I want them to know that I’ll always be there for them, whatever the case, and that they have my unconditional love and support.
They can also count on me to save them from my sister!

Welcome Kevin. It’s really nice to have niece and nephew. It’s like you have sons and daughters to take care of. You’ll definitely enjoy being an uncle. I am so excited for you to experience this yourself.
Congrats on your little one! Kevin, I totally know what your feeling. I was over the moon about being a new Auntie and trust me “spoil” is not the word. My niece gets any and everything she wants and than some.
Awww…this is super sweet. I foresee that you will be an AMAZING uncle in the near future. Congrats!!!
P.S. Can we get Eric to write a post about how he’s excited to be a daddy?
Congrats to you all on the new member of the family! 🙂
It’s so important for a new baby to have supportive loving parents but also to have their special cousin / aunt / uncle who is ready to love and spoil them in a way that parents can’t. I love that my wee one has quite a few virtual aunts and uncles from blogging since I haven’t got any siblings to do the job.
