I love to travel. LOVE to travel.
But the number one thing I hate about travel? The cost.
Vacations can be really expensive, and it takes a long time to save up enough to take a trip somewhere. This is why I love using my credit card points to help reduce the amount of money we put toward travel.
When Eric and I went to Cancun in January, we saved $800 with credit card points. When we went to New York, we only paid $10 for our flights. When we went to San Francisco, again, we only paid $10 for flights. Cutting out the cost of airfare is by far one of the biggest ways we like to save money on travel, and love to use our credit card points to help with that.
This is why I was excited when I heard about the Discover it Miles® credit card. With no annual fee, it is even better than other rewards cards:
- 5x miles for every dollar spent on purchases
- Fly any airline, anytime—just use your miles for a credit on your statement
- Miles never expire
- An annual credit up to $30 for in-flight Wi-Fi charges
- No foreign transaction fees
This has all the qualifications of a good travel reward card. Most of my high-reward travel cards have an annual fee attached, so I love that this one doesn’t and still provides you 1.5 miles on all your purchases!
As a special bonus for new customers, Discover it Miles cardmembers will now receive double the amount of miles they’ve earned at the end of their first year – with no spending cap. That gives travelers using the Discover it Miles Card the opportunity to determine for themselves the amount of bonus miles they receive in that first year.
Discover was ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Credit Card Companies. Tied in 2014” by J.D. Power. I’ve been a Discover card holder since college, 10+ years now (eek!) and I’ve always been happy with their customer service.
At this rate, our babymoon to Puerto Vallarta will be paid for!
I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

Thanks for the tip and I have to agree with Catherine in terms of actually taking the plunge and heading out on a babymoon.
A babymoon is something I admit I thought was silly at the time but SO WISH WE HAD DONE IT. I had a risky pregnancy so flying wasn’t safe nor was my insurance valid internationally after 25 weeks because of my pregnancy state. Have a great trip 🙂
